It’s that time of the year again. The festival of colors is here and we couldn’t be more excited! Music, bonfires, parties, and LOTS and LOTS of colors… but what’s a festival without some delicious food to indulge in?

If you’re wondering what to whip up this Holi season, you’re in the right place. Here are some quick and colorful Holi recipes that you and your family will surely love!

1. Thandai

A refreshing drink that’s loaded with rich ingredients like milk, dried nuts and fruits, and fragrant spices. To make thandai, soak a handful of almonds, cashews, and pistachios in water for a few hours. Transfer them to a food processor and blend until they form a thick, paste-like consistency. Combine with milk, sugar, saffron, cardamom powder, and rose water. Serve chilled!

2. Bhel Puri

Ah, Bhel Puri! Your favorite Indian street food, a snack that packs big flavors and textures in every bite. Add puffed rice, sev, chopped onions, tomatoes, and boiled potatoes to a bowl. Top the mixture with loads of tamarind and green chutney and sprinkle with chaat masala, cumin powder, and red chili powder.

If you’re looking for a twist on the classic bhel puri, you can try our yummy Cup A Bhel. All you have to do is pour the sauce that comes with the pack, shake the bhelpuri container and voila! A hassle-free quick fix for every chaat addict this Holi season!

3. Rainbow fruit chaat

Colorful, healthy, and delicious, rainbow fruit chaat is a refreshing salad made with a variety of fruits. Cut up some strawberries, kiwis, mangoes, and blueberries. Sprinkle the colorful blend of fruits with chaat masala and toss in lemon juice. Garnish with mint leaves and serve chilled.

4. Kulfi

What’s Holi without some sweet and refreshing kulfi? A creamy, rich, desi ice cream that’s bursting with flavor, kulfi is one of the mainstays of the Holi festival and loved by just about everyone!

To make kulfi, simmer some milk on low heat until it thickens, then add sugar. Next, dissolve some cornstarch in a cup of milk and add to the mixture, stirring constantly so there aren’t any lumps. Add ground cashew nuts and saffron, and finally, pour in some cream / malai. Keep stirring and cooking until the mixture thickens, pour it into kulfi molds, and freeze for a few hours.

5. Gajar halwa

A sweet and vibrant Indian dessert that’s perfect for Holi, Gajar halwa is made with grated carrots, milk, sugar, and ghee. You can make it from scratch or go for a store-bought option. If you’re making it from scratch, saute grated carrots in ghee until they’re soft and tender. Add milk and cook until the mixture thickens. Finally, toss in sugar, cardamom powder, and chopped nuts, and keep cooking on low-medium heat until it’s done. Serve hot or cold.

6. Aloo tikki

Handmade potato cutlets seasoned with spices and dipped in bread crumbs to give you that perfect golden exterior. You can order these tasty treats online or prepare them yourself. Boil some potatoes and mash them with a fork. Add chopped onions, green chilies, coriander leaves, and spices. Shape the mixture into small patties and coat with eggs and bread crumbs. Shallow-fry until they’re crispy and golden brown and serve with sweet and sour tamarind chutney or spicy green chili and mint chutney.
